Friday is the day Bartlesville Public Library Director Joan Singleton will close the book on her career after 26 years of service. Singleton began her career as the Public Services Librarian in 1989 and after several upgrades including assistant director, she was promoted to the director position in 2001. The responsibilities of directing the Bartlesville Area History Museum and the White Rose Cemetery were added to Singleton's duties in 2008. Her replacement has yet to be hired but said her staff will have no problems.

Singleton said she and her husband plan to travel as much as they can during their retirement. Also, “I'm just someone who has had a good life, a good family and I've been able to work at a job I love.”
