State insurance Commissioner John Doak is reminding Oklahomans it's the time of year to get more vigilant about deer. More deer accidents occur in October and November than any other time of the year. Deer crash data collected in Oklahoma in 2011 shows there were 467 reported accidents with two deaths and 184 injuries. The data also showed that 60 percent of the crashes happened at night.

Deer tend to travel together so if you see one, look for more. Watch for deer signs and slow down as they are placed where deer are known to cross. Be extra cautious at dawn and dusk as that is the time of day that deer and other animals are more active. Use high beam headlights when there's no oncoming traffic so you can spot the animals sooner. Visit http://ok.gov/oid/
