A rash of stolen vehicle reports has come to an end in Coffeyville. The Coffeyville Police Department received two reports of stolen vehicles, a 2006 Ford Taurus and a 2013 Ford F150, on December 28. The 2006 Ford was recovered later that same day but this was just the beginning of a series of vehicle thefts. A black Nissan Titan was reported missing on January 7. After a Facebook video post of the possible suspect and the help of Coffeyville citizens, the suspect was identified as Sean McKenzie.

Officers found one of the vehicles outside of Winfield on January 12. Police made contact with McKenzie and after a short foot chase, he was arrested for possession of stolen property. The suspect vehicle involved in the January 7 theft and the Ford F150 were recovered later that day. Another suspect, Amanda Smith, was arrested on January 13 and also charged with possession of stolen property.

All the vehicles stolen in Coffeyville were left running and unsecured. We ask the citizens of Coffeyville to remember vehicles cannot be left unsecured and running and that it is a citable offense. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on this case, or who may have witnessed this crime is encouraged to contact the Coffeyville Police Department at (620) 252-6160.
