Bartlesville Teachers to be Honored Tuesday

Teachers in the Bartlesville Public School District will be honored on Tuesday, January 26. Superintendent Dr. Gary Quinn said, "Bartlesville has exceptional teachers and this event gives us the opportunity to share their accomplishments with the community."
During the celebration, the ten 2016 Rising Star Teacher nominees will be introduced and the 2016 and the winner will be announced. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Teacher of the Year nominees by former students. Others receiving special recognition during the evening will be 25 teachers nominated for the Kurt Schmoldt Teacher Appreciation Award.
The evening's theme is "Dreaming the Impossible, Seeking the Unknown, Achieving Greatness." The complete list of nominees is below. The event takes place Tuesday, January 26 at 5:30 P>M. in the Fine Arts Center.
Rising Star nominees include: Avery Chambers, Hoover Elementary; Ashley Evans, Jane Phillips Elementary; Abby Ezard, Kane Elementary; Jacquelyn Smith, Ranch Heights Elementary, Rachel Hartzell, Wayside Elementary; Leah Dennis, Wilson Elementary; Megan Hoelting, Central Middle School; Christy Orphin, Madison Middle School; Jessica Strain, Bartlesville High School; and Jared Gleaton, Will Rogers Complex.
The Teacher of the Year Nominees are: Katie VanZant, Hoover Elementary; Kendra Rakes, Jane Phillips Elementary; Julie Eide, Kane Elementary; Anna Mims, Ranch Heights Elementary; Monya Brown, Wayside Elementary; Barbara Larkin, Wilson Elementary; Sherri Cox, Central Middle School; Morgan Axsom, Madison Middle School; Margie Green, Bartlesville High School; and Tiffany Fitzsimmons, Will Rogers Complex.
Others receiving special recognition during the evening will be 60 teachers who participated in Great Expectations training throughout the past year; and teachers receiving milestone service pins.
