Work on Public Safety Complex to Begin

Work is set to get under way on Monday for Bartlesville's Public Safety Complex. Voters approved the bonds to fund the work in 2012. City Director of Engineering, Micah Siemers says the city faced some hurdles getting the project started.
Crossland Construction of Tulsa will take eight months to build the new police and fire complex. The police station will occupy the southern part of the building. The northern part of the site will include a major expansion of the existing Central Fire Station. The fire station is one of four located within the city.
Once it is complete, the facility will house administrative offices for the fire department. Police administrative offices, interview rooms, and a drug lab will be part of the police facility. The current building is located in the flood plain and was heavily damaged by the flood of 1986.
