A Dewey man was arrested for allegedly choking his wife.  30-year old Matthew J. Sturgeon is charged with domestic abuse by strangulation.  Dewey police were called to the 200 block of South Hereford to investigate a possible domestic case.

According to a court affidavit, Sturgeon's wife told officers the suspect had placed his arm around her neck, caused her to lose consciousness.  The police saw bruises around the victim's neck.  Reportedly, the couple's three children were present during the incident.

Sturgeon's next court date is May 6th.  Bond was set at $20,000.
