The Green Country Republican Woman's club held the District 29 Republican State Senate Seat debate in downtown Bartlesville Tuesday evening at 7.

The candidates– Mrs. Julie Daniels and Dr. Jean Oliver– answered questions on a number of topics from both party officials and audience members. Daniels and Oliver tackled topics like the income tax cut, of which both candidates had varying opinions. Daniels was in favor of lowered taxes.

Oliver, on the other hand, didn't agree with tax cut.

Daniels and Oliver had similar ideology on some issues, however, such as Oklahoma's high incarceration rates.

District 29's Senate Seat, which covers Washington, Nowata and a portion of Rogers county, will open as incumbent Senator John Ford is  termed out. Voting will take place on June 28, and the winner on the republican side will go on to face Democratic Candidate Robert Jobe in what will be the first contested State Senate race since 2004.
