Chuck McCauley will occupy the superintendent's chair for the first time when the Bartlesville School Board meets Monday night.  The board plans to appoint Kevin Sitton to a seat on the board.  Sitton will fill the vacancy created when former board president Doug Divilbiss resigned.  Divilbisss announced earlier this year that he intended to step down from the post once the district had a new superintendent in place.  The board will also vote on a Central Middle School landscaping contract with Evans Nursery.

Board members also plan to enter a discussion on strategic planning.  Bartlesville schools and every other district across the state will have to accomplish its mission with no more dollars than they had to spend during the recently completed school year.  In addition the district is faced with a declining fund balance.

Board members have called an August bond election and hope that voters will approve additional local funds to help the district take more control over its financial destiny.  Monday night's school board meeting is set for 5:30 at the Education Service Center on South Jennings.
