Arvest Bank and Oakley Chevrolet-Buick have named Kindergarten teacher at Wayside Elementary, Monya Brown as the Bartlesville Public School District Teacher of the Month for September.  In recognition of this honor, Brown received a plaque and a $300.00 check by Stephen Colaw, Arvest Bank Senior Vice President and Trust Client Advisor, and David Oakley Jr., owner of Oakley Chevrolet-Buick.

Mrs. Brown achieved her Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Education degree from Harding University in Searcy Arkansas.  She has fifteen years teaching experience and is beginning her seventh year as an early childhood teacher at Wayside Elementary.

Mrs. Brown says it is her job to support each child’s individual growth and development by creating an environment that makes all students feel safe and loved. 

Principal at Wayside, Ken Copeland says Mrs. Brown is a very important role model in the school's early childhood center.
