It's official, the Kennedy Building in Downtown Pawhuska will be sold in a live auction, and it will happen sooner rather than later. The Osage County Board of County Commissioners have discussed over the past few weeks if they would carryout a live auction or a sealed bid auction for the building which must sell for at least 80% of its appraised value. Last week the Commissioners agreed that they would get the best result by proceeding with a live auction and this week decided to let Chupps Auction Company hold the auction on the same day as their Whiting Bed and Bath auction on August 16. The contract with Chupps must still be reviewed and signed, but the Commissioners wanted to maximize the advertising time before the auction takes place. The choice to sell the Kennedy building on the same day as the Whiting Bed and Bath auction was made with hopes that more real estate buyers would already be in town.
