The Nowata County Commissioners met for a regularly scheduled meeting. The commissioners discussed a resolution for a county hiring freeze as a part of the unfinished business portion of the meeting but that discussion will continue during the next meeting.

During the new business portion of the meeting the county appointed Earl Ward to serve as the new requisitioning and receiving agent for the OSU extension office. Billy Tatum was also appointed serve as district 2 sheriff’s deputy. The only other items approved were disposal resolutions for the sheriff and treasurer.

During the announcements portion of the meeting the commissioners were informed and encouraged to participate in Walk to School Day, which is Wednesday for Nowata Schools.

The commissioners will meet again for a regularly scheduled meeting next Tuesday due to the Columbus Day holiday.
