OKWU Basketball Drops First Game To Avila

Oklahoma Wesleyan (4-1) dropped its first game of the season in an exciting contest against Avila, 75-72. The Eagles battled back from an 11-point deficit at halftime and had an opportunity to force overtime but a Breiman Alexander three-pointer missed with less than five seconds remaining.
Alexander led all scorers with 25 points on 7-20 shooting. This is the seventeenth consecutive game Alexander has reached double figures dating back to last season.
OKWU scrapped its way through this game keeping it close even though they shot just 35% from the floor. The Eagles kept themselves in the game with 19 offensive rebounds leading to 16 second chance points.
Four players for Avila scored at least ten points in this game, including two coming off the bench.
Oklahoma Wesleyan hits the road for the first time this season as they head to Kansas on Friday for the Central Christian Classic.
