The Oklahoma Union 4-H club presented a proclamation declaring National 4-H week in Nowata County at Monday morning’s meeting of the Nowata County Commissioners.

Travis Dick, Daniel Moody, Chesnee McGovern and Kassidy Kuehn all shared in the reading of the proclamation. Although 4-H week was officially last week, from Oct. 7 to Oct. 13, the commissioners didn’t get a chance to recognize the honor until this week.

It was brought to the commissioners’ attention that the 4-H club is in need of volunteer judges for several of its fall competitions including public speaking and cooking contests.

In the business portion of the meeting a donation of school supplies from Walmart on behalf of the sheriff’s office was tabled for the fourth consecutive week. Commissioner Bud Frost was absent from the meeting and would’ve been the deciding vote on the matter.

Several county officials brought up that the heater in the courthouse is not functional. Chairman Doug Sonenberg said work is being done to get it fixed.
