To start their regularly scheduled Monday morning meeting, the Washington County Board of Commissioners approved a contingent attorney contract. District 3 commissioner Mike Dunlap says the commissioners had talked with the Barron Law Firm a couple months ago to solidify themselves in the ongoing opioid epidemic case to make a claim from the case if the law firm were to win.

Dunlap explains the money wouldn’t go to the county budget directly. The money from the lawsuit, Dunlap says, would go toward opioid addiction rehab facilities in Washington County instead.

Dunlap says District Attorney Kevin Buchanan reviewed the contract and approved it. That led the commissioners to approve the contract with Barron Law Firm.

Also in their meeting, the commissioners approved a lease purchase agreement and a certificate of compliance with Armstrong Bank. That was for a 2015 John Deere 624K Wheel Loader for District 3. They went on to approve a declaration of surplus for a JD Grader in District 3.

Finally, the commissioners approved an ODOT form for utility relocation for a Bison Road job piece in District 2.
