The Dewey City Council approved the rezoning of two parcels of land the Dewey City Council purchased in a January meeting. City Manager Kevin Trease says they hope to get the land rezoned according to the State of Oklahoma’s recommendations for the land.

Trease says they are looking to rezone the area as an industrial space. He explains that state law requires that they now notify residents within 300 feet of the property as to what will take place. An ad will also have to go in the paper. Trease also noted that state law requires them to put a sign up for people to read as they pass the property to give everyone an opportunity to know what's going on.

A public meeting could take place around the first Dewey City Council meeting in March that will discuss the rezoning further. Trease says an ordinance would be adopted the same night as the public hearing when it takes place. No other actions were taken in the Dewey City Council meeting.
