The Senate Education Committee advances Owasso Senator J.J. Dossett's bill to ban vaping in Oklahoma schools. On Tuesday the committee gave unanimous approval to Senate Bill 33 which could expand the Tobacco-Free Schools Act to ban the use of any vaping products. Those products include noncombustible devices as well as the cartridges whether or not they contain nicotine.

Various studies by Sen. Dossett reveal that the number of teens who vape has exploded in recent years. Dossett says the increasing use of vaping products by students is alarming, especially considering the fact that Oklahoma's laws banning smoking in schools have not been updated to address e-cigarettes.

Dossett's Senate Bill 33 will now be considered by the full Senate.
