The National Board of Certified Teachers in District 11 wrote to their representative Darrell Fincher when House Bill 1009 came before a committee on which he serves.

The bill seeks to add compensation for NBCTs. Fincher explains that NBCTs are teachers who have gone through a rigorous, expensive self-reflection and evaluation process. Their emails to Fincher have advocated for the bill talked about the personal expense and effort of pursuing this goal.

He says the stories sent to him have touched and motivated him to sign on as a co-author of the bill.  In Committee, he was able to call on their words and express to the committee the difference those teachers make to Oklahoma children. Fincher says it was their eloquence that spoke that day.

District 11 Representative Darrell Fincher in the early going of his career at the capitol continues to let his constituents know that their words matter. He says he will always take calls and letters from those who reside in his district. He serves Rogers, Tulsa and Washington counties.
