While some people buy flowers for their loved ones during the month of love, two gardeners in Bartlesville have a love that is blossoming.

Jose Zarate is a landscaper at Green Thumb Nursery and his bride to be, Nicollette Begay, works as a retail worker. Zarate says the two met when he returned from a landscaping job and saw Begay in her new role at the nursery. Love soon followed.

From there Zarate says God told him to pursue Begay. God told Zarate that he needed to love Begay because she needed to be loved. He struggled with what God was telling him to do, and every time he tried stepping away, he says God's voice only grew louder. Finally, he succumbed to God's will for his life and fell instantly in love with Begay.

The couple plans to move after their upcoming wedding. Zarate says he is going to be ordained this month as a minister for Freewill Baptist Church and will start his own church branch in Buhl, Idaho. He says his love for Begay helps him see the love of God more every day and the love of God means. He says when you love someone, you love them despite their flaws and mistakes which is how God loves all of us. That love is what he interprets in his love for Begay.

Zarate and Begay will marry each other in Bartlesville in May.
