There's still time to join the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bartlesville's biggest fund raising effort to provide one-on-one mentors for local youth.

Area Director Charlene Dew says the funds raised with the Bowl for Kid's Sake event will provide long lasting friendships. According to Dew, the average mentor to student relationship lasts 36 months. Some relationships can last up to 10 years or longer though. Big Brothers Big Sisters asks their mentors to serve for a year.

Dew says those who prefer not to bowl but would like to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters can do so by becoming a virtual bowler. She says you can sign-up online and use an online pledge sheet. You can also drop by their offices to pick up a pledge sheet if you'd like.

As for those who would like to bowl, Dew says some lanes for Bowl for Kid's Sake remain open at the Red Apple Bowling Center. Those lanes are open for the Thursday, Feb. 21 event date and the event will roll on at 7 p.m. If you would like to create a team or become a virtual bowler, Dew asks that you contact her at 918.213.4524.
