District 11 Representative Darrell Fincher met with the Delegation of Bartlesville Teachers recently. Senator Julie Daniels and House Representative Judd Strom also engaged in those discussions with Fincher. He says they talked about education and what's happening at the capitol.

One of the big bills passed not too long ago by the House Appropriations and Budget Committee looks to give extra compensation to the National Board of Certified Teachers. Fincher says the Oklahoma governing bodies have removed funding for NBCTs in the past. He says that didn't feel right considering how difficult and expensive it is to become an NBCT.

Fincher says he was happy to sign on as a co-sponsor for the bill after hearing from the NBCTs. He says they are still pulling together the Senate authors for the bill. The bill also has the Full Appropriations and Budget Committee to go through, according to the representative. Fincher says officials are confident the bill will make noise and end up being part of the compensation for the full budget.
