Independence Community College Football Head Coach Jason Brown has resigned. In a tweet late last night Coach Brown released a two page letter (seen below) with his resignation. In the first page he announced the decision along with a list of his accomplishments at ICC. In the second page he thanks the community and school for the support he has received but says due to recent circumstances, it would be nearly impossible to stay at ICC. He blamed the Montgomery County Chronicle for diminishing his ability to do his job successfully.

The Independence Community College Board of Trustees had met to discuss the situation and offer their input regarding the recent controversy surrounding the football coach’s texts to a student named Alexandros Alexiou. The texts from the coach to the German born student said that he was his new Hitler.

ICC President Daniel Barwick said in a statement that: “This has been a painful episode for the entire campus and community, and its conclusion allows us to fully focus on the students we serve. As a college, we should be defined by the outstanding educational quality and value we create for our students, and we believe we can move past this together with our community, faculty, staff and student body. The college has no further comment on this matter.”
