United States President Donald Trump recently invited Bartlesville's Senator Julie Daniels to the White House. Trump signed an executive order Thursday, March 21st in Washington, D.C. to ensure freedom of expression on college campuses in America. Daniels received an invite to the capitol because of her work on Senate Bill 361 which aims at protecting freedom of expression on Oklahoma campuses.

She said America has been an experiment on individual liberty and that Americans ought not to actively undermine their right to free speech. Daniels gave an anology that America is a frog in a cold pot of water that is slowing being warmed up. As tensions escalate with free speech and people get easily offended by what people say,

Daniels said the tension is the pot heating up. When the pot gradually heats up, the frog begins to cook without realizing it's being cooked. Eventually it is too late and the pot gets to be too hot. Daniels said she will not allow herself or others be the frog. Instead, she will continue to fight for the rights of free speech on college campuses and beyond.

Senate Bill 361 passed the Senate by a vote of 36 to 9 before Sen. Daniels trip to the white House. She believes her bill without troubles as Claremore Representative Mark Lepak advocates for the bill in the House of Representatives.

As for the rest of her trip at the White House, Daniels said President Trump's warm and engaging attitude as he signed the free speech executive order in front of college students in attendance encouraged her to press on with what she is passionate about.
