District Director Ken White will return home to Tulsa after serving two and a half years with the Cherokee Area Council Boy Scouts of America. Scout Executive Phillip Wright says White will serve the Indian Nations Council starting Monday, April 1st.

Wright says they will miss the 16-year Scouting professional's dedication. The Cherokee Area Council went without a Scout Executive for several month's in 2018. Wright says during that time, Ken stepped up for the Council to fill day-to-day operations. Those tasks included: meeting with Unit Leaders, working with District Committees and working with the Executive Board. Wright says it was only Ken that served the six Counties the Council serves until they made key hires. When the Council needed Ken, he was there for them.

With White moving on to Tulsa, Wright says they will start taking resume applications for a new District Director for the Cherokee Area Council Boys Scouts of America. He says they want to have a good candidate pool to choose from towards the end of May or start of June when they start the interview process.

The Cherokee Area Council is looking to fill White's roll by fall of this year. Some qualifications for the positions listed by Wright include but are not limited to:

  • Child excitement/recruitment
  • Management skills
  • College degree
  • Funding knowledge

For more information, you can drop by the Council's offices in Bartlesville or you can call Wright at 706.728.0755.
