A dedication ceremony will take place at Civitan Park which is known by local youth as the “Dinosaur Park.”

The dedication ceremony comes approximately one week after severe weather destroyed the shadow cover that was draped over the Dinosaur Parks playground equipment. Civitan Club President Toni Harjo said Thursday that Community Development Director Lisa Beeman is looking to see if the shadow cover had storm damage insurance before the storm occurred.

The Friday, April 26th dedication ceremony revolves around the park's new 20-foot by 44-foot pavilion the Bartlesville Uptown Civitan Club bought at the approximate cost of $29,000. They then donated the pavilion to the City of Bartlesville to install in the park.

The pavilion was originally set to cost $30,775 to construct. Urban Haus owner Wayne Callaghan and subcontractors Ron Griggs, Cramer Concrete, Harrison Drilling, Taggart Electrical and Lance’s Landscape each took a 30-percent discount on their costs to make this installation more affordable. The Civitan Club also pitched in $10,000, so the project ended up costing the City only $20,000.

Civitan Club President Toni Harjo says the dedication ceremony for the pavilion will be held at Civitan Park at 12:15 p.m. Friday.

Harjo adds that the weather should be perfect for the dedication during Civitan month. The dedication ceremony was originally scheduled to take place on Feb. 15, 2019, but inclement weather postponed the celebration.
