No game this weekend for Bartlesville High, but that doesn’t mean the Bruins won’t be in action.

Bartlesville will host a three-way scrimmage at Custer Stadium on Thursday evening with Tulsa Edison and East Central coming to town for their final tune ups before next week’s opener.

BHS has its starting quarterback, as Ben Winters has been tabbed to start the first game on Sept. 6 at home against Claremore.

The success of Winters and senior tailback Laken Clowdus will largely hinge on the play of the Bruin offensive line. It is a group with several returners. Bartlesville head coach Jason Sport talks about the big fellas up front.

Winters won the starting job after a sparkling performance against the Jenks varsity club during a scrimmage last week. Winters went 8-12 through the air for 162 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

The scrimmage will start at 6:00 PM at BHS.
