Cherokee Nation Donates to Nowata County
The Nowata County Commissioners accepted a donation of $5,000 on behalf of the sheriff’s office at Monday morning’s meeting. The donation came from the Cherokee Nation.
District two commissioners Doug Sonenberg and District one commissioner Burke LaRue attended the most recent Cherokee Nation council meeting. Sonenberg said the donations from the Cherokee Nation have reached six figures over the last year.
Sonenberg said the information came from the most recent economic impact study from the Cherokee’s. The board also accepted a donation of three calculators for use in the assessor’s office.
The commissioners let bids for county mowing and for an 11-wheel pneumatic roller. Also, a resolution was approved to dispose of a 2010 Crown Victoria that was used by the sheriff’s office.
