Bartlesville KLIFE’s 11th annual Run the Ville has a new format this year in response to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus.  The physical race will be virtual instead!

All runners are asked to run on their own and then submit a photo of their time and distance to KLIFE.  All registered participants will receive a t-shirt and medal for participating.  KLIFE will host a Facebook Live awards ceremony on April 4th at 6 pm to congratulate runners and thank Run sponsors.

Race organizer and KLIFE board member Liz Cone said, “We’ve had a great response from our registered runners, from Run the Streets, and Bruins on the Run, our major participants.  When it became evident that schools would be closed and public meeting size limited, we began discussing our options.

Blair Ellis, Executive Director of Bartlesville Public School Foundation, who had been graciously supporting the race on behalf of  Bruins on the Run and BPSD employees, suggested the idea of a virtual race.  We felt that a virtual run would allow runners, who had been training and working all season to earn the Oilman Triple Challenge, to complete the run on their own time in their own space.  Many runners have thanked us for not cancelling or postponing the race.”  Runners will have until April 4th to run a continuous 6.2 miles and email their time to the run website. Registration is open online through March 26th.

KLIFE Chapter Director Frederick LaLanne reports that KLIFE small group meetings are continuing on a virtual platform and that students are looking forward to having something to do and to connect with during this time of no school.  “I know that students are interested in connecting with their KLIFE small groups when they agree to meet online at 7 am!”  KLIFE staff members and small group leaders are available to remind kids of the constancy of Christ in all situations.

All proceeds from the Run will support KLIFE staff salaries and programming.  Please visit bartlesville.klife.com for more information about Run the Ville and KLIFE in our community.
