The Washington County Commissioners discussed on Monday the need to extend the County's COVID-19 Emergency Declaration in their next meeting.

Chairman of the Board Mike Dunlap read some of the statistics from the Washington County Health Department.

43-percent of the positive COVID-19 cases in Washington County are associated with long-term care facilities. 59-percent of the coronavirus deaths in Washington County were associated with a long-term care facility. 91-percent of the deaths in Washington County were 65-years-old or older. 95-percent of the coronavirus deaths in Washington County had one or more other health conditions.

Washington County Emergency Management Director Kary Cox made the recommendation to the Washington County Commissioners to extend the County's emergency declaration. He said that keeps the door open for the County to be reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

With elections coming up in June, and the courthouse in Bartlesville hopefully opening up on Monday, May 18th, supplies are still being purchased. The Commissioners will look to extend Washington County's COVID-19 Emergency Declaration next Monday.
