Oklahoma Wesleyan needed another comeback effort to defeat McPherson 86-74 on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Eagles upend McPherson for second place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference heading into the final month of the season.

The Bulldogs would hit their first six shots in a spectacular start to take a 15-8 lead in the first five minutes. OKWU’s defense would emerge and limit McPherson to just six made shots over the final 15 minutes of the half. The Eagles would take a five-point lead into halftime after an acrobatic shot from Brooks Haddock.

Haddock led the team with 15 points. The Eagles’ second unit would play stellar in the game. The bench group would contribute to a 13-6 run early in the second half to push the OKWU lead to double-digits. Ke’Von Boston and Lense Ramey would each hit three-pointers in the run.  OKWU would manage the lead down the stretch to clinch their ninth straight win over the Bulldogs. The Eagles are the first team to win at McPherson this season.

OKWU will not have much time to rest ahead of Monday’s home game against Friends. This will be the team’s fifth game over the last nine days. OKWU head coach Donnie Bostwick talks about the matchup.

The men’s and women’s doubleheader starts at 6 p.m. from the Mueller Sports Center. Radio coverage will be live on Sportstalk 99.1 FM KPGM.
