OKM Tickets Targeted to Go On Sale April 1

Tickets to the OKM Music Festval are targeted to go on sale on April 1st, according to Ryan Martin with OKM on Tuesday's COMMUNITY CONNECTION. Martin urges everyone to stay tuned to the OKM Website (okmmusic.org) or on Social Media for upcoming updates.
 
Martin excitiedly gave us a rundown of this year's lineup and told us about OKM's scholarships and internships.

 
Main-Stage Performances:
 
· Thursday, June 10: Canadian Brass
 
o Sixth visit to Bartlesville; has performed with OKM five other times with 2015 their most recent stop in Bartlesville 
o Five extraordinary musicians: tuba, two trumpets, a trombone and horn 
o They all play on state-of-the-art 24K gold-plated instruments 
o Their works include Renaissance and Baroque masters, classical, contemporary as well as marches, ragtime, jazz, big band, Broadway tunes as well as Christian music. 
 
· Friday, June 11: Dallas Brass/ Jack Settle at WOOLAROC
 
o Jack Settle is a country singer/songwriter from Bartlesville. After a virus caused a hearing loss, he felt called to pursue music while he still could and immediately moved to Nashville after High School. 
o Jack Settle describes his style as “Country with a side of Southern Rock dipped in Americana”
o Dallas Brass returns to OKM! They were a major fan-favorite from 2019. Founded in 1983 and has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles.  
 
· Saturday, June 12: Dallas String Quartet 
 
o Acclaimed by Good Morning Texas as “one of the most unique string ensembles you’ll ever see”
o Performing everything from Bach to Bon Jovi, classical and contemporary music will get fused together!
o DSQ performed a virtual live-stream concert for OKM’s 2020 festival last fall and was a huge success! 
 
· Sunday, June 13: Tina Guo 
 
o Grammy Award-Nominated cellist and musician.
o One of the most recorded solo cellists of all time and can be heard on many Blockbuster film, television, and game soundtracks, including the most recent Wonder Woman film. 
o Collaborates regularly with many musicians and composers including Hans Zimmer. 
o Performed a virtual live-stream concert for OKM’s 2020 festival las fall and her performance had thousands of views world-wide! 
 
· Monday, June 14: Jenny Lin 
 
o Returning to OKM from the 2019 festival.
o Jenny Lin is one of the most respected pianists today and is often praised for her charismatic stage presence. 
o She will be performing a very eclectic and beautiful piano concert at Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa showcasing composers from almost every period: Bach (Baroque), Chopin, Debussy (Romantic), Philip Glass (Post Modern – Contemporary), Aaron Copland and more.
o Jenny is a Steinway artist – big deal!
o She will also be performing a special Kid’s program during the day at Tulsa at Philbrook, “Melody’s Mostly Musical Day”
 
· Tuesday, June 15: Take3
 
o TAKE3 brings the refinement of classically trained musicians and infuses that with a rock-star charisma.
o Leader of the group, Violinist Lindsay Deutsch, performed with the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra a few seasons ago. 
o TAKE3 is a true crossover group – performing everything from Bach to contemporary pop hits, such as “Despacito”, “Imagine” and artists such as Billy Joel!
 
· Wednesday, June 17: Wynona Wang 
 
o Wynona is a very ornamented young pianist with prizes of competitions internationally. 
o She has performed with international orchestras and festivals in major concert halls around the world. 
o Performance program includes: Brahms: 8 Klavierstucke (8 Piano pieces – very diverse work), Beethoven’s Sonata No. 26 (Opus 81), and Schumann’s Sonata No. 1 in F-sharp minor (Opus 11) 
§ It’s a very beautiful but also challenging piano performances – really encompassing the wide range and versatility of the instrument 
 
· Thursday, June 18: Grady Nichols / Baha Men 
 
o Grady is a local favorite from Tulsa – performs at Utica Square’s Summer Nights series every year. 
o Baha Men infuses Junkanoo stylings, pop sensibilities with the Caribbean islands. 
o Grammy Award-Winning group
o Family of nine!
o Approaching their 30th anniversary as a group and known internationally for their hit single, “Who Let the Dogs Out” 
o Music has been played in major films – particularly family films from the early 2000’s including: Shrek, Around the World in 80 Days, Garfield, and more.  
 
Community Showcase Performances:
 
OKM always hosts a mostly-free community showcase series as an affordable but exciting way to showcase fantastic talent – particularly as a way to highlight Bartlesville, Oklahoma and regional musicians. 
 
· Saturday, June 12: Festival Brunch with Ann Janette and the Evolution 
· Saturday, June 12: Ryan and Ryan, Father and Son Piano Duo 
· Sunday, June 13: Festival Picnic with Jeff Shadley at Frank Phillips Home Lawn 
· Monday, June 14: Wade Daniels, pianist
· Tuesday, June 15: Keeli Droege, pianist
· Wednesday, June 16: Merz Trio, violin, cello, piano 
· Thursday, June 17: Hugo Salcedo
 
Scholarships:
 
Each year, OKM Music offers two $1,000 merit-based scholarships to local students. The Mihm Scholarship application period has ENDED. However, applications are still being taken for the Thomasane Chapple Scholarship. This opportunity allows OKM Music to give back to the community that has supported it for more than 30 years.
 
The following scholarships are offered every year:
 
The Thomasane Chapple Memorial Scholarship Fund for Rising Stars ages 4-18 will enhance their access to music instruction outside the classroom. Application due date: Friday, June 4, 2021
 
The Mihm Scholarship Fund for Bartlesville High School seniors will support their goals of higher education in music.  The application period is CLOSED. Thank you to all of the Seniors who have applied for the Scholarship.
