Tri-County Tech keeps growing!

Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION on Thursday, Tara Gotwalt, Senior Director of Economic Development, brought us up to date on some new and existing projects that serve our communities.

Tara Gotwalt said that ground was broken in Nowata recenty for the new Tri-County Tech/Boys and Girls facility. The joint-use facility in Nowata will be used to inspire children and adults to achieve their full potential by providing quality youth development services and life-changing learning experiences.

The state-of-the-art facility, approximately 22,500 square feet in size, will be constructed at the existing Boys & Girls Club site. This facility will include dedicated spaces for Tri County and the Boys & Girls Club of Nowata and shared areas such as classrooms, a commercial kitchen, and community meeting rooms.

It doesn't stop there. Gotwalt told us about the success of the the Pawhuska Business Development Center.

The center is designed to generate economic development in Pawhuska and Osage County. The primary focuses of the 20,000 square foot facility are to provide incubator services in addition to classroom, meeting, and conference room space for the area.

The incubator services are managed by Tri County Tech’s business enterprise, The Strategy Center. The facility has five industrial bays, 10 office spaces, two classrooms, and one conference room that can be scheduled for use by incubator clients and members of the community.

Another new addition to Tri-County Tech is a new burn tower for fire training. Gotwalt said the ground breaking for the new burn tower will be in the first week of May at the main campus in Bartlesville. The burn tower is being made possible through a grant from a lottery grant and some help by Rep. Judd Strom.

About Tri-County Tech:

Tri County Tech, one of 29 public technology centers in the Oklahoma Career and Technical Education System, serves the residents throughout the northeast Oklahoma counties of Washington, Nowata, and Osage. TCT has a vision of inspiring success through life-changing learning experiences. With a goal that no student should be denied an education due to inability to pay, TCT provides scholarships and funding for student expenses such as medication, gasoline, clothing, and food. TCT has sustained top 25% nationally rankings for student completion/retention and placement for eight fiscal years. The institution also increased graduate wages to well above the national average while growing its own revenues 34 percent since 2009–without federal funding and despite a sizable reduction in state funding. This past year, we served 648 full-time students. We also provide customized business and industry training programs, community education classes, event and meeting services. 21,184 students were served by these activities.
