Ketchum Known for Sports Prowess

As we reported on the news side, one of the best athletes in Bartlesville history, Dee Ketchum, passed away on. Monday.  

Ketchum played football, basketball and golf for College High from 1955-57. He set a basketball conference record for scoring and was named to the Oklahoma All-State team in 1957.

Ketchum played basketball for the University of Kansas from 1958-61. Ketchum also played golf at KU. He also spent many years coaching area basketball teams. 

Ketchum received the Jim Thorpe award for athletic excellence in the state of Oklahoma in 2014 and was inducted in the 2008 Bartlesville Sports Hall of Fame class.

Ketchum talked about some of his memories as captain of the KU men’s basketball team in 1961 during his Bartlesville Sports Hall of Fame ceremony.

Ketchum was the former Chief of the Delaware Tribe of Indians.
