Bartlesville CPC Approves Homeless Shelter Rezoning and Development Plan

The Bartlesville City Planning Commission met Tuesday night for their regular monthly meeting with one main item of discussion on the agenda, centered around a rezoning request of 1.85 acres and approval for a homeless shelter located at 219 N Virginia Ave. The meeting also included a public hearing that included many local residents of Bartlesville sharing their support of the Be the Light Missions initiative to have the shelter built.
One concerned business neighbor to the proposed shelter showed issue with the chickens and bees that will be put to use at the shelter, stating in a letter that no business wants chickens, chicken coops and beehives outside their front door. After long discussion, the item was approved, but with a new stipulation involving Oklahoma Residential zoning laws.
The stipulation involves there being less than 10 chickens and they will be in a designated coop or fenced in area. After approving the rezoning and site development plan, the meeting was allowed to adjourn. The CPC will meet again next month on the last Tuesday of October.
