Washington Co. Commissioners Address Billing 'Discrepancy' With Text Messaging Service

The Washington County Commissioners approved Monday an amendment to an agreement with ReGroup, the company that facilitates emergency mass text messaging for the county.
Emergency Management Director Kary Cox says there was a problem with the original contract.
Cox says approximately 5,000 people have signed up for the text messaging service. The amendment will increase the number of messages allowed.
He says the discrepancy is related to how the county thought the messages were going to be billed versus how ReGroup is billing.
Cox says the amendment allows for the service to continue while his team looks for options for a new service provider.
