Bartlesville Takes 3rd at Holiday Classic

The Bartlesville girls basketball team claimed third place in the Lady Bruin Holiday Classic on Wednesday afternoon at Bruin Fieldhouse, beating Classen SAS 68-61
The win puts BHS above .500 once again at 3-2, and finishes off a 2-1 week at the tournament. But it wasn't easy sailing by any stretch of the imagination. Bartlesville faced adversity early.
Thanks to 22 Lady Bruin turnovers, many of them in the first quarter, Bartlesville trailed Classen 17-5 after the end of the first quarter. But Hailey Tucker heated up, and so did the BHS defense and offense. Bartlesville outscored the Lady Comets by 14 in the second quarter, and took a 32-30 lead into halftime and never looked back.
Tucker hit five three-pointers and went 11-of-14 from the free throw line in route to 36 points, a season high for the senior. No other Lady Bruins were in double digits, Gabby Culver finished second in scoring with nine.
Vivian Culver did a nice job filling in for Lauryn Washington in the starting line up, she scored six points and had several nice assists.
The Bartlesville girls have now won three of their last four games, going into a rematch with Owasso in their next game on Jan. 6.
The loss for Classen SAS drops them to 10-2, the Lady Comets hadn't lost a game coming into the tournament, and were No. 12 in 4A coming into the week.
