Fairfax residents will once again have a grocery store for the first time in 4 years. The ribbon cutting ceremony for Venture Foods was held Tuesday and officially opened for business Wednesday.

Residents of Fairfax as of late have needed to travel more than 30 min in order to purchase fresh produce and groceries, so the reopening of the local store is a welcome addition.

On Tuesday, Osage Nation Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear and Assistant Principal Chief Raymond Red Corn took part in the ribbon cutting with store owner Lane Moore as well as store employees and residents.

The Osage Nation signed the building lease for Venture Foods on December 23, 2014.

The store is owned by ALLS Grocery Inc. and the Osage Nation assisted in getting the location started up by providing shelving, energy efficient appliances, and remodeling assistance, according to Chief Red Corn.
