Prosecutors in Rogers County have charged 39-year-old Roman Medrano with first degree murder in the death of Rafael Hernandez-Torres. Torres body was found on May 1st after a truck driver traveling Highway 169 let police know about a vehicle in the Caney River near Collinsville. Divers found Torres body in the trunk of the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. According to the arrest and booking report, investigators concluded that the motives were robbery and revenge, saying Medrano believed that Torres had made advances to his wife. Newson6 reports that detectives found a call in cell phone records from Medrano to Torres at about 9:15 P.M. on April 30th. They believe he asked Torres to come to an area near the river so that he could rob, murder and get rid of the evidence. Medrano remains in the Rogers County Jail without bond.
