The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that the Ten Commandments monument at the State Capitol must be removed.

The court ruled that the Oklahoma constitution bans using public property to benefit a religion. They said the Ten Commandments are “obviously religious in nature” and they indirectly benefit the Jewish and Christian faiths.

State Representative, Earl Sears, said he is disappointed with the courts ruling.

The monument was erected in 2012 and since then other religious groups have asked for space to erect their own monuments.
