The Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagles are 5-0 to start the season and a key cog on the team has been Redshirt Junior Amanda Hart. The Lady Eagles are a young team that see a ton of underclassmen playing major minutes. However, Hart is the rare experienced player on roster.

Hart came in for the 2016-17 season bursting on the scene as a freshman as she started 30 of 31 games. Hart remains as the only player on roster that was recruited by Jason Jeschke prior to the 2016 season. Hart says she has seen a lot in her time at OKWU.

Hart then played under head coach Mark Molder in 2017 when an ankle injury cost her nearly the entirety of the season. Hart had a previous ankle injury during her time at Hydro-Eakly High School as well. Though she said suffering an injury and missing time felt different at the college level.

Hart had to sit the bench and observe as the team went 21-11 over the 17-18 campaign falling just shy of a national tournament appearance. Hart said this was a valuable experience to see how the game was played. Then, 2018-19 came around and Hart got her chance to make a difference on the court once again.

Getting back on the court was the battle and once Hart returned she thrived for the Lady Eagles. Hart once again started every game for the Lady Eagles while averaging 9.9 points per game and being a key piece on a team that won 18 games.

Now, in her junior season as one of the team captains Hart holds a big leadership role. OKWU head coach Grace Hadley sees Hart as key piece on the 19-20 Lady Eagles.

Hart is averaging 11.2 points per contest so far this season. She will next be in action with her fellow Lady Eagles Wednesday at 6 p.m. as OWKU hosts Bethany for a home doubleheader. Listen to radio coverage on Sportstalk 99.1 FM—KPGM.
