While he was more famous for what did in Enid, former NBA veteran Mark Price was born in Bartlesville. Price is the subject of our look back in local sports history, as this weekend 28 years ago Price helped push his Cleveland Cavaliers past Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics into the Eastern Conference Finals.

The series was capped off with a 122-104 win in Game 7 of the semifinals series on May 17, 1992. Price started and scored 15 points with eight assists. Price averaged 19 points per game in 1992 postseason and made a living hitting big jumpers like this one. (TNT TV AUDIO)

Price and the Cavs would then run into Michael Jordan and the Bulls in the conference finals and would be dispatched in six games. Price had a moment in game two, outscoring MJ 23-20. The 1991-92 Cleveland team tied its furthest run in franchise history. Only Lebron James in 2007 could get Cleveland into the finals for the first time.

Price played his high school basketball in Enid and was named state player of the year in 1982. He would go to Georgia Tech to play college ball. Price played 12 NBA seasons, nine of which were in Cleveland. His No. 25 jersey is retired by the Cavaliers.
