Bartlesville DC Essential in Culture Change

Bartlesville High School is gearing up for its first scrimmage date on Thursday as they take part in the Broken Arrow Kickoff Bash with a matchup against Coweta. The Bruins are working with an entirely new staff under first-year head coach Lee Blankenship.

One of the new coach’s is defensive coordinator Jason Sport who spent his last two season as an assistant at Jenks High School. Sport got an opportunity to share his testimony and football background during Tuesday’s meeting of the Adult Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Like Blankenship, Sport is a believer in building culture in the football team. Sport says that starts with purpose.

Sport will be leading a defense that struggled at times last season, but he is looking forward to working the athletes the Bruins have on that side of the ball that include Tom Beard, Taton Hopkins Cody Winters, Lukas Hammack and others.

Bartlesville takes on Coweta at 6 p.m. tomorrow night in Broken Arrow in its first of two scrimmages in preparation for the opening game at Claremore on August 31. We will have much more on Bruin football, including practice updates and a recap of tomorrow’s scrimmage later on this week.
