Bartlesville High School graduate Tim Johnson is set to take over as the new athletic director at Oral Roberts University as of August 1. The school made the announcement during a press conference on campus Monday.

Mike Carter, who held the athletic director role for the past 27 years will be handing over the reins. Carter is also a graduate of Pawhuska high school. Local ties to ORU will remain strong with Johnson at the helm. Johnson has been with the school since 2015. He says it is a dream to be heading an athletic department close to home.

Johnson graduated from Arkansas. He spent time working under Houston Nutt with the Razorbacks football team. Johnson then moved on to Clemson where he worked under Dabo Sweeney with the Tigers.

Johnson is currently a major part of fundraising efforts at ORU. He looks forward to advancing the athletic department in the years to come.

ORU is ushering in an era of athletic transition. A 10,000 foot athletic training center will be named after Mike Carter right next to the Mabee Center.
