Bartlesville High split its boys and girls double-header on the road at Muskogee on Tuesday night, as both teams were in a dog fight most of the evening.

The Bartlesville girls won to get back above .500, while the Bruin guys were a bucket and turnover short of picking up their first win in overtime.

The Lady Bruins took care of Muskogee, 57-49.

Bartlesville struggled in the first half with bringing the ball up the floor against a staunch Rougher press. BHS made some adjustments and halftime to take better care of the ball, and controlled the game throughout the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 10 down the stretch.

Mary Cone knocked down some huge three-pointers in the second-half when Bartlesville started building its lead.

Lydia Knollmeyer was also monster down the stretch, she had multiple offensive rebounds and stick backs to keep Bartlesville in the lead. Knollmeyer finished with 10 points. BHS improves to 3-2. The Lady Bruins are off until Dec. 20.

Meanwhile on the guy’s side, the Bruins and Roughers traded blows throughout the evening.

Muskogee stole a BHS inbounds pass with 10.9 seconds left in overtime and converted a layup with four seconds remaining to literally steal the win, 56-54.

The Roughers lead by a possession or two most of the second half before BHS got some huge buckets in the fourth quarter, this and-one from Adam Nakvinda gave Bartlesville a four-point lead with less than five minutes left.

Both clubs missed key free-throws down the stretch that could have won it for either side.

Bartlesville is 0-2, and will next play in the Tahlequah Tournament on Thursday morning vs. Tahlequah at 11:30 on 1500 AM and 99.1 FM – KPGM.
