Just a few weeks removed from losing Krista Binam, the Lady Bruin girls’ basketball team has a new head coach.

Bartlesville High officially announced the hired of Donnie Martin on Thursday afternoon.

Martin comes to BHS from Pryor High School, where he led the Lady Tigers to a 51-32 record over the past three seasons. Martin has also had stops at Inola, Blanchard and Claremore-Sequoyah.

Martin led Pryor to an appearance in the 5A State Tournament championship this past spring, losing to Booker T. Washington 56-49 in OT. BHS Athletic Director Ryan Huff talks about the playoff experience and how that weighed on the decision.

Martin inherits a Lady Bruin team that was also in the 6A State Tournament a season ago. BHS has three returning starters back in 2018-19, all seniors.

Jena’ Williams, Avery Allen and Trinity Parker will try to repeat the success they had in 2017-18.
