BHS Swimming Heads to State

Bartlesville High swimming is getting set to embark on a run to the state tournament, as the Lady Bruins and Bruins will travel to Jenks for 6A State starting on Friday.

The Bartlesville girls will likely see their run of five straight state titles come to an end. BHS has smaller numbers this year, but still qualified six for state.

Sydney Perry leads that group as the senior leader and defending individual state champion in the 50 meter freestyle and 100 meter fly.

Lady Bruin head coach Chad Englehart says he has been impressed with the girls throughout 2020.

The Bartlesville guys have some loftier expectations. BHS has 13 boys making the trip. Seniors Will Englehart, Nick Hales, Cooper Williams and some others will lead the way.

The Bruin boys should have a chance to make the podium at the end of the weekend. Bartlesville has a reputation of performing a bit better at State than expected. Englehart says that is due to hard work.

The 6A State Swim Meet takes place at the Jenks Aquatic Center, same spot as the 6A Regionals two weeks ago.

Bartlesville will leave on Friday and spend the night in Jenks, as the event takes place on Friday and Saturday.
