Bixby Takes Two vs Bruins

It was baseball amid the wind, and the wind hasn't been blowing the Bruins way in district games this past couple weeks.

Bartlesville High lost both of its district contests at Bixby on Wednesday evening. The Bruins were swept in a double-header, losing 8-2 and 5-3. Bartlesville is still looking for its first district win, as the Bruins fall to 0-7 in district play. Both games were close in the middle innings. Bixby used a three-run sixth to pull away in game one.

Freshman Jakob Hall gave his team a chance in game two with another great pitching performance. Hall went six innings and gave up four runs, but it still wasn’t enough. Hall helped himself out with a two-RBI single that tied the game in the fifth. Lucas Reitfors appeared to break out of a slump at the plate, he had a big RBI double that brought Bartlesville within one in the sixth inning.

The Bruins didn’t have enough of that on Tuesday. BHS had only eight hits in the 14 innings of the double-header. Bartlesville struck out 15 times against Bixby pitching in game two.

Bartlesville High is next at Ponca City for a non-district game on Friday evening.

The next broadcast will be on Monday at home against Stillwater on KWON - AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
