Blankenship Sees Athleticism in Bruin Team

Bartlesville football has won only four games over the past two years, depending on who you ask. However, there may be pieces for the future on the 2018 version of the Bruins.

BHS is in month No. 3 of the Lee Blankenship area. Blankenship has been overseeing strength and conditioning this winter and spring, but he hasn’t gotten a full look at his guys in pads yet.

He will have to wait until May when spring ball officially begins. Although pads haven’t been used, and there has been no official football activities, Blankenship says he thinks he is getting an idea of what he has for this upcoming season.

In years past Bartlesville had completed a week or two of spring practice at Custer Stadium, before going to a team camp to compete against other teams. The last several years under John McKee that team camp was in Stillwater. Blankenship is going to have his team skip that camp this season to undergo some more internal evaluation.

Spring football cannot begin until the later parts of May after the final spring sport is over, which is the state track meet.
