Bruin Baseball Drops 2 in Bruin Classic

Bartlesville High played two exciting games to begin its own Bruin Classic, unfortunately the Bruins came out on the wrong side of both of them.

BHS lost game one against Collinsville 3-2 in eight innings, then the Bruins fell to Ponca City 6-3 in game two in a time-shortened game.

The Bruins (4-9) got a great pitching performance from Jakob Hall in game one, he went seven innings and gave up only two runs – he worked out of two bases loaded jams in the sixth and seventh before Bartlesville lost it in the eighth.

In game two, Ponca City led throughout. The Wildcats were up 3-1 when Calvin Johnson shot a ball in the right center gap to cut the lead in half with two outs.

The Bruins would tack on another run in the third, but that would be it offensively – BHS only scored 5 runs over 14 innings on Thursday.

Bartlesville is 0-2 to begin the Bruin Classic. There will be four more games involving other teams downtown on Friday, the Bruins do not play again until Saturday morning at 9:00 AM.

BHS wraps up its play in the tournament on Saturday at 4:30 PM.

Sports Talk 99.1 FM and 1500 AM - KPGM will air the Saturday 9:00 AM game.
