Bruin Baseball Wins Yet Again

The Bartlesville High baseball team won its tenth game in a row on Monday night on the road at Bixby, on the back of stellar starting pitching and a timely hit from one of its seniors.

Dakota Ward went the complete-game eight innings on the mound, while Noah Yearout came up with a two-out game-winning single in the top of the eighth to keep the Bruins win streak alive.

The game was an absolute pitcher’s duel from the outset, with the Bruins battling against one of the best starters in Oklahoma, the Spartan’s Jake Bennett. Bartlesville had not had a runner past second base through the first seven innings. In the eighth, with Harald Borg reaching second on a single and subsequent steal, Yearout sealed the victory with this base knock.

Bennett is a University of Oklahoma signee, and several Major League Baseball scouts were on hand to see the outing.

He was outdueled by the Bruin’s Ward, who went eight innings and allowed only two Spartan base runners in his final seven frames. Ward struck out 10 and walked two in the victory.

Over his last two starts the senior has gone 2-0 and in 14 innings he has surrendered six hits and only one earned run.

Bartlesville has game two of its two-game series with Bixby on Tuesday, another 5:30 first pitch, this time at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

Jakob Hall is the probable starter for BHS, we will have that game on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3 – also available online at BartlesvilleRadio.com and the Bartlesville Radio App.
