Bruin Boys Hoops End Season

The Bartlesville High Bruins finished up their 2019-2020 season with a loss in the first round of the 6A Regionals on Friday night.

Despite a strong showing in the game's first eight minutes for the Bruins, Booker T. pulled away big-time, topping Bartlesville 84-40 to bounce BHS from the playoffs.

After trailing 13-12, Booker T. would outscore Bartlesville 43-7 at one point, to turn a competetive game into a rout down the stretch.

The Bruins (1-22) had four different leads in the first quarter, and trailed 15-13 entering the second. The solid first eight minutes against the state's No. 1 team continued a trend of better play for BHS toward the end of the season, but not enough consistency to pick up another win.

Nick Smith was a major bright spot again, the sophomore scored in double-figures for the second straight game, and hit this three to give the Bruins one of their early leads.

Adam Nakvinda also finished with 11.

Booker T. would score 21 unanswered to begin the second quarter to take a commanding lead and would never look back. The Hornets will face Yukon in their own Regional title game on Saturday evening.

BHS will lose only Shane Simpson and LP Smith from this year's team heading into 2020-2021.
